Obituary of Dennis Williamson Starke

Dennis Williamson Starke, 93, of Hopewell went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 after a brief stay in John Randolph Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sallie J. Starke. Dennis proudly served our country as a U.S. Navy veteran during WWII where he was assigned to PC566 and was interviewed for an International History Channel Documentary about the sinking of a Japanese Sub off the coast of Florida. He is survived by his sister, Virginia S. Dale and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue and where funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, February 25, 2014 with Rev. Andy Paul officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to River's Edge Bible Church, 11311 James River Drive, Hopewell, VA 23860.
