Obituary of Frederick Roscher

Frederick "Fred" Arthur Roscher, Jr., 90 of Hopewell, died peacefully Wednesday evening, June 19th 2013, after a brief illness. Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Genevieve Renn Roscher, and his parents Frederick A. Roscher, Sr. and Theresa Jane Carter Roscher. Fred is survived by his sons, Frederick A. Roscher III, Stephen Renn Roscher, Christopher Mark Roscher, Timothy Mayo Roscher, Kevin Paul Roscher, and daughter, Kimberly Carter Roscher Moloney, plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren.He was a former office manager for Hopewell Iron and Metal, a circulation manager for the Hopewell News, and the Richmond News Leader. Fred was a WWII veteran who served as a cadre man training new recruits in marching and rifle drills at Fort Brag, NC. On D-Day he was shipped to England where he served as a medic and also served for a brief period in France before being honorably discharged in 1946. Fred was a cadet and graduate of John Marshall High School in Richmond, an active and founding member of New Jerusalem Fellowship in Prince George, was a long time member of the Hopewell Lions Club and Hopewell Civitan Club, and a long time volunteer at John Randolph Hospital. The family will receive friends on Monday June 24, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home in Hopewell from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Roger Dean officiating, interment will be Wednesday June 26, 2013 in Appomattox Cemetery at 2:00 PM with military honors.
