Obituary of Baker MGYSGT Robert Elwood

MGYSGT Robert Elwood Baker, 70, of Chester passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 in John Randolph Medical Center. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Romaine Vaughn Baker and a brother Ronald Eugene Baker. MGYSGT Baker was a twenty six year retired U.S. Marine veteran serving in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Baker, daughter, Brenda Monn, eight step-children, Donna Bord, Theresa Whaly, David Melson, Cindy Lankford, Shelley Miller, Craig Woodlief, Ricky and Timmy Melson, a sister, Sue Cligan, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue with visitation following service until 4:00 pm. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 in Onslow Memorial Gardens, 3280 Richlands Highway, Jacksonville, NC with Rev. Bert Duckwall officiating.
