Obituary of Kathryn Dorothy Beem

Kathryn Dorothy Kramp Beem, 92, of Prince George, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Beem and daughter, Catherine Anne Compton. She is survived by four sons: Peter Beem and wife, Joan, of Smyrna, DE; Carl and his ex-wife, Joan Beem of Petersburg, VA; Joseph Beem and wife, Diane, of Hopewell Junction, NY; and Edward Beem and wife, Viola, of Prince George, VA; and many special family and friends to include Max Compton of Onekama, MI; and Shane Prodka of Arlington, VA. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beem was born and raised in Michigan, but moved to Delaware when her husband's job transferred him there. After his retirement, they returned to Michigan and several years after his death, she moved to Virginia to be closer to family. She was a member of Saint James Catholic Church in Hopewell and was active in several senior groups in the area, enjoying the social interaction and the many trips they offered. She loved to travel, play cards and was always the life of the party with her enthusiasm and love for others. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Memorial Funeral Home-Gould Chapel, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA with a memorial service at 7:00 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. The family would like to thank the many Hospice personnel who helped them through this difficult time.
