Since 1978, our family has faithfully used the nursery at First Baptist Church each Sunday with our children as well as our grandchildren. Even though Nancy Pelter serves as department head at present and does a splendid job as does her son Robert, this nursery has always been known as Joretta Sordelett's nursery. She even trained the Pelters in preparation of her absence. Who knew? You could tell that children were loved and welcomed in her nursery and she ministered to our young families faithfully. Once you were cradle enrolled, a kid was protected and cared for life. Mess with anything else in the church but leave Joretta's nursery alone! She played such an important part in our church history by welcoming all of our new families. What a devoted and loving legacy to leave her family. God bless all of you in life as Joretta has blessed us by loving all of our children here at First Baptist Church. We are grateful and have already missed her, but be at peace knowing that she is already at her Father's feet reading stories with the children.

I have very fond memories of working in the nursery at First Baptist for Mrs. Sordelett. Elena and I spent many hours together in the nursery, or trying to get Mrs. Sordelett to let us work in the nursery. She was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed. My prayers and thoughts are with all of her family.

I am saddened by this news. Mrs. Sordelett was a great Christian woman. She was a great role model to all of us. She was a truly remarkable woman. All of her "kids" will miss "Mama Sordelett".
