Obituary of Bertha Tyus

Bertha "Bea" Virginia Tyus, 77, of Petersburg passed away February 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her Daughter, Donna Lipes; a Grand Daughter Jackie Webb; and a Great Grandson Gavin McPeak. She is survived by her sons, T. J. Tyus (Julie), of Prince George, Sam Tyus (Cindy), of Roanoke, Michael Tyus (Patty), of Hopewell; Daughters, Gail Kostro (Nick) of Sussex, Virginia Dent (Daniel) of Petersburg; fifteen Grandchildren and fifteen Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bea was a long time Member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and volunteer programs around town. She was active in the choir and played the organ and piano. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to your local S.P.C.A. The family will receive friends 6:00PM to 7:00PM February 17, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA. Funeral services will follow at 7:00PM.
