Obituary of Stina Peterson Peach
STINA PETERSON PEACH, 91 of Hopewell, Virginia passed away on October 24, 2011. She is survived by her two daughters, Patsy Peach Hall and husband Gary of Longwood, Florida and Peggy Peach Rivenbark and husband Wayne of Metter, Georgia; four grandchildren: Melanie Hall Duford and husband Rob, Lindsey Hall Krebsbach and husband Billy, Lane Rivenbark and wife Erin, Beth Ricketson and husband Greg, and four great grandchildren: Haley and Caeden Duford, Catherine Ricketson, Nola Rivenbark; two sisters: Kate Peterson Klaffky of Huntington, New York and Patricia (Bessie) Peterson Miller and husband Ross of Jekyll Island, Georgia. She is also survived by 11 nephews and nieces, 25 great-nephews and nieces and 7 great-great nephews and nieces. Stina is pre-deceased by her parents, Torsten and Elizabeth Swineford Peterson, brother, Torsten E. Peterson, Jr., brother-in-law, Al Klaffky and nephew Ross Miller.Born in Siglunes, Manitoba, Canada on April 20, 1920, Stina resided in Prince George and Hopewell from 1924 and graduated from Hopewell High School in the Class of 1936. After graduation from business college in Richmond she worked 7 years for W. C. Locker, creator of Locker Writing in Virginia elementary schools. During World War II she served as President of the USO Girls Service Organization for two years, which is where she met her husband, Fred. She was a Charter Member of Wesley United Methodist Church in 1953, Secretary of the Administrative Board for 24 years and a member of the Tyson Circle. She was a Charter Member of the G.P.G.C. Sorority in 1935 and the Sorority Advisor from 1955 to 1985. She was a legal secretary for Torsten E. Peterson Law Firm for 27 years and a member of the Richmond Emmaus #38. She devoted many years to family genealogy, leaving a treasure for her family of 279 great grandparents.The family will receive friends on October 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home, Hopewell, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on October 28 at Memorial Funeral Home by Pastor Rob Duford. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester.
