Obituary of Cheryl Lynn England

Cheryl Lynn England, 61, of Claremont, Virginia, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. She was the daughter of the late R. Stanford "Stan" and Joyce Hail England of Prince George. Cheryl was born on November 29, 1960, in Hopewell, Virginia and graduated from Prince George High School in 1978. She was involved in many extra-curricular activities but mainly enjoyed being a writer and editor-in-chief of her high school yearbook, Peerage, the possible spark that ignited her adult career. She earned her B.A. degree in English from the University of Virginia and moved to California where during the span of her career she was senior editor of Macworld Magazine, executive editor of MacUser Magazine, and founder, editor-in-chief, and publisher of MacAddict Magazine in 1996. She also co-authored the book The Macintosh Bible 9th Edition in 2004. Cheryl received many awards for her career accomplishments including Best Overall Magazine, Computer Press Assoc., and she was listed in Marquis Who's Who as noteworthy publisher, editorial director. Cheryl loved her life in California, balancing her career with a passion for scuba diving, traveling, and running. She even found time to volunteer at The Gorilla Foundation acquiring food and preparing meals for Koko and Ndume. Cheryl later moved back to her home in Virginia and worked as a self employed freelance editor/writer and publisher/editor for Southern California Physician magazine. She purchased a small farm in Claremont where she collected and raised quite a menagerie of unique animals, many of them miniatures. She named her place "Little Feet Farm", the place "where little feet meet." Cheryl had a special fondness for horses and anything equine, and she doted on her dog Luke and Inky the cat. While in Claremont she was involved in various civic and volunteer organizations, especially those dealing with animal rescue/welfare programs. Her passion for animals remained with her throughout her entire life. Cheryl is survived by the following first cousins and their families: Jeannie E. Lubman and David A. England of Prince George, Cathie E. Ingram (Mark) of Hopewell; Stephen D. England of Cary, NC; Jeffrey C. Creech (Eva) of Douglasville, GA; Judy A. Creech and good friend Mark Riggleman of Hopewell; Raymond England, Jr. (Alyssa) of East Grenwich, RI; Tom England (Marlene) of Woodsboro, MD; Betty Mann Winks (Steve) of Richmond; Everett "Buddy" Neil Hall, Jr. (Linda) of Varina; Garnet Roy Hall (Pat) of Lexington, NC; Tracy Lynn Grasley (Doug) of Chesterfield. The family sincerely thanks all those who have helped Cheryl at her farm over the years and especially her Claremont community who so kindly and so often gave a helping hand. A graveside service for Cheryl will be held at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to any organization or facility dedicated to animal rescue and/or welfare. Condolences may be made online at www.memorialfh.com.
