Joe Mabe

Obituary of Joe David Mabe

Joe David Mabe Sr, age 74, passed away Friday morning, Dec 3, 2021 at his home in Amelia County, VA. Finally, his long battle with COPD was finally over. He died peacefully while napping in front of the TV in his favorite chair. He had been under hospice care since September. He had been in congestive heart failure for some time and his body decided it was time to rest. Born July 30, 1947, he was the son of John Henry & Gladys Mabe of North Carolina. Everyone knew him as “Pops”. He loved the ladies and wasn’t shy about it. He will be remembered as a hard working man, who was upbeat, always smiling & feisty especially in his older years. He was a good friend and neighbor. You would either find him kicked back napping in his favorite recliner in front of the TV or on the go in his red Toyota pickup truck. He also enjoyed watching the 700 Club every day and reading a little from his bible. He loved watching his favorite football team, the Carolina panthers, in the fall and the Nascar races in the spring and summer. He visited with his neighbors next door almost every day. They would take turns cooking dinner for each other and sharing a pot of coffee afterwards. He was a good friend and neighbor. They were dear to his heart. He is survived by his Son, Joe Mabe, Jr. and his daughter, Penny Lynn Brewer, his 5 Grandchildren & 2 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings and many friends who loved him dearly. Services to celebrate the life of Joe D Mabe Sr will be held privately at a future date to be determined. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com.
