Obituary of James Carroll Jones

James Carroll Jones, 74, died November 2, 2013, in Bracey, VA. He was born August 1, 1939 to the late Ruth Roberta Caudle and Nelson Edward Jones. He was married to the late Anne Bryan Moody Jones for 45 years. Carroll is survived by a son James Carroll Jones, Jr., and grandchildren Patrick, Austin and Miranda of Christiansburg; daughter Kimberly Anne Jones Howle (Patrick) of Butner, NC; brothers Edward Guy Jones of Hopewell and Nelson Ben Jones of Sutherland; aunts Maxine Pollock of Colonial Heights and Shirley Skelton of Hopewell; uncle Curtis Jones of Richmond; and four nieces and one nephew. Carroll worked for Firestone in Hopewell from 1960 until 1972 when he moved to Emporia and became manager of Emporia Garment Company. In the early 1980's, he moved to Bracey and managed Brodnax Apparel until he started his own business, Carroll's Apparel, in Roanoke Rapids, NC. After leaving the garment business, Carroll worked four years for Lifeline Ambulance Service in Christiansburg. He then retired to Bracey, where he resided until his death. Carroll had a kind heart for all he met. He enjoyed camping, fishing, working in the yard, cowboy movies and his cats. He will be missed greatly. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 25, at Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
