Obituary of Frederick Conrad Ulmer
Frederick C. Ulmer Jr., PhD, Commander, U.S.N., Retired, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2012, at his home at Jordan on the James in Prince George County, Virginia. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 3, 1924, to the late Frederick C. and Elsie Mitchell Ulmer.
Dr. Ulmer received his Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees from George Washington University and his PhD from Nova University.
After enlisting in World War II he served thirty years in the U. S. Navy and retired at the U. S. Naval School of Graduate Dentistry, where he was the Administrative Officer of The Naval Dental School.
After retiring from the U. S. Navy, Dr. Ulmer was instrumental in starting the Dental Technology Program at J. Sargent Reynolds Community College, where he became Chairman of The Division of Health Technology and a Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Ulmer is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Hearne Ulmer; one daughter, Linda Gail Ulmer, of Mechanicsville, VA, and one brother, James M. Ulmer, of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, and several nephews and one niece.
Dr. Ulmer was a former member of Mechanicsville Christian Center and at the time of his death was a member of The Family of God Church in Chester, Virginia, where he served as Treasurer.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, West, Virginia.
