Obituary of John Gordon Moore

John Gordon Moore, 93, of Hopewell passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Greenfield Reflections Assisted Living. Mr. Moore was born in Edgecombe Co.,NC, the son of the late John Daniel and Lula Weaver Moore, a former member and very active in the Hopewell Moose Lodge and a WWII veteran serving in the Army/Air Corp. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Georgianna Doutt Moore, a daughter, Peggy Moore Forloines, brother, George W. Moore, two sisters, Annie Moore Wyatt and Maggie Mae Hicks. He is survived by three sons, Daniel G. Moore (Cynthia), David A. Moore (Cathy), and Douglas T. Moore (Teresa), a daughter, Susan M. Robertson (Brian), six grandchildren, Sean E. Moore, Heather Bowling (Brad), Dawn Anderson, Jessica Frickman, Michael Robertson and Christopher Moore, four great grandchildren, Damien Henke, Amanda Frickman, Joshua Anderson and Marissa Moore, a sister, Christine Burnley, brother, Joseph Roy Moore, Son-in-law, Ralph Forloines, Brother-in-law, RobertDoutt, Sisters-in-law, Dorothy Minchew and Betty Hiatt, also numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Memorial Funeral Home-Gould Chapel, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, August 13, 2012 in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Virginia or your favorite charity.
