Obituary of Hardy Barricks Traylor

Hardy Barricks Traylor, age 71, of Hopewell, died from complications due to cancer on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Hospice of Virginia's In-Patient Care Wing. He received his undergraduate degree from the East Carolina University and obtained his Virginia Law License by reading the law with Allen and Allen. Mr. Traylor was a founding member of Traylor, Morris & Elliott Law Firm, made contributions to the opening of the Chester YMCA and was a founding member of the Henricus Historical Park Foundation (Treasurer). He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Traylor, and mother, Alice Traylor. He is survived by his wife, Susan Johnson Traylor; his son, Richard Traylor, and his partner, Michael Guajardo, of Chesterfield; son James Traylor of Hopewell; one daughter, Elizabeth Howard, and her husband, Jeff Howard of Lantana, Texas; and two grandsons, Seth and Heath Howard, of Lantana, Texas. He is also survived by a sister and her husband, Susan and George Stone of Hopewell; and a brother and his wife, T.R. and Joyce Traylor, of Chesterfield. Numerous nephews and nieces survive him from Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Marks Church at 520 N. Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Burial service will be private.
