Obituary of Jerry Frank Andrs
Jerry Frank Andrs, 84, of Chester went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Karel and Anna Sempaur Andrs and four siblings. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Gloria Clark Andrs; his children, W. Dean Andrs, Allen F. Andrs (Kristin), Brenda A. Wallace (Ronnie), Clark S. Andrs (Amanda); grandchildren, Austin, Courtney, Alyssa; great grandchildren, Kristina and Aliyah; brother, William Andrs (Gayle); sisters-in-law, Viola Clark and Joye Andrs and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in mechanical engineering and a Professional Engineer. He could fix anything and was considered to be a "jack-of-all-trades" by those who knew him. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His annual hunting trips to Wyoming spanned more than 50 years. Jerry was also a member of and very involved with First Baptist Church of Hopewell where he was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and had many other roles. Jerry's engineering skills were utilized in meeting the maintenance needs of the church. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N.6th Ave in Hopewell. His funeral ceremony will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church 401 N. 2nd Ave in Hopewell with Rev. Darrell Boggs officiating. Final rest will be in Appomattox Cemetery.
