Obituary of Mary Virginia Bishop
Mary Virginia Bishop, 85, of Chester passed away peacefully Thursday, November 10, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edgar Bishop, Jr., her parents, John Alfred and Mary Elizabeth Williams Bishop, a son, Ronald Bruce Adams, five brothers, Gordon Bishop, William "Buddy" Bishop, George Willis Bishop, Norman Roland Bishop, and Carl Wayne Bishop, and a sister, Shirley B. Slaughter. Mary was a retiree of the Reynolds Metal Printing Company. She was a member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, where she was active member of the United Methodist Women. She held multiple officer positions there as well as in the Opti-Mrs Club of Enon. A country girl at heart, she was an avid cook and seamstress. She was famously known at church bazaars for her white house rolls, fudge, and Raggedy Ann dolls. She is survived by a son, Benjamin T. Bishop and his wife, Tina, a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Walton and her husband, Wayne, a sister, Maxine Bishop Coburn, four grandchildren, Mary Koronkowski, Kenny Walton, Nathan Gray Bishop, and Nicole Rose Radford, four great grandchildren, Christopher, Chase, and Jenna Koronkowski, and Taylor Walton, and a sister-in-law, Betty Bishop. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Prentace officiating. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
