Obituary of Luther B. Vick

Luther B. Vick, Jr., 75, of Burrowsville, died on April 18, 2015. He fought a good fight and is now at peace with the Lord. Luther was born in Southampton County VA on January 21, 1940 and is the son of the late Luther B. Vick, Sr. and Clara Belle Garris Vick. He is also preceded in death by two brothers; Raymond and Samuel Vick. Luther is survived by his children; Dena Lucy (Kenny), Dennis Vick; their mother, Mary; Bryan Vick, Michael Vick (Angela), Kevin Vick, Sarah Vick , Lisa Twait; their mother, Dianna; grandchildren, Ashley Lucy, Caitlyn Elder, Jonathon and Rachel Squires; three sisters, Bernice Westerman, Emily Mazelle Amos and RoseAnn Martin (Ernest); a brother Charlie (Jack) M. Vick and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Luther was a devoted father to all his children and a kind and loyal friend to all who knew him. Always ready to help when needed and a hard worker. He worked for the County of Prince George School Bus Garage for several years before going to work in 1967 for the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries at the Presquile National Wildlife Refuge and the James River Refuge. He was also a part time Virginia Game Warden during this time. Luther retired in January 2008. He served the County of Prince George as a dedicated firefighter for 55 years. Starting out in Prince George Company 1 and then in Burrowsville Company 4. He loved the fire department and all members associated with it as his family. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Burrowsville Ruritan Club, 17410 James River Drive Disputanta, Va., 23842. Memorial services will be held immediately following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Burrowsville Volunteer Fire Department 17300 James River Drive Disputanta, Va. 23842 .
