William Edward Glass

William "Bill" Edward Glass, Jr., 86, of Hopewell, passed away at his residence Wednesday September 17, 2014. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; William Edward Glass, Sr. and Oceal Lewis Glass Nanny, wife; Beverly Glass, step father Edward Nanny, sisters; Emily Lewis and Virginia McDowell. He was a member of the Legion of the Moose, Hopewell Lodge 1472, the 40 & 8of American Legion Post 146, life member of the Hopewell VFW Post 637, and a member of 1st Congregation Christion Church. Bill loved dancing and fishing and did so whenever he could. Bill proudly served his country during the Korean War by serving in the United States Army. He is survived by his son; Bill Glass III and wife Billie, daughter; Donna Glass all of Hopewell, grandchildren; Nicholas W. Glass of Hopewell, Kenny R. Glass of Prince George, Jason Godwin and wife Kendra of Hopewell, Sean Godwin and wife Amanda of Chesterfield, Dale Godwin and wife Kiersten of Harrisonburg, sister; Ellen Hamilton and husband Gene of Dinwiddie, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday September 20, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home 214 N 6th Ave Hopewell, Virginia, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300 Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
