Sandra Cheek Lassiter

Sandra Cheek Lassiter, 73, of Hopewell passed away Friday, November 18, 2011 in Johnston Willis Medical Center after a brief bout with cancer. Mrs. Lassiter was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Lassiter, Sr., parents, Allen L. and Ruby Norwood Cheek and her brother, Roger Cheek. Sandra was retired from Allied Chemical with more than twenty five years of service, a member of the First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Prayer Shawl Ministry a beloved member of "stitch-wits" stitching group, Docent with the Hopewell Historical Society and very active in the Hopewell Moose Lodge. She is survived by three sons, Robert A. Lassiter, Jr. and his wife, Kathy; Bruce W. and Brian L. Lassiter, five grandchildren, Shelley McClain, Matt Lassiter, Andy Lassiter and wife, Becca, Wayne Lassiter and Courtney Rackley and husband, Corey, two sisters, Mary Ann Cotton and Judi Peter,and a brother, Don Cheek. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell and where funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2011 with Rev. Jeff Raymond officiating. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
