Phyllis Ann Farmer Shumate, 75, of Hopewell passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Shumate was a management analyst at Fort Lee, a member of the Jeb Stuart Civil War Round Table, a member of Jeb Stuart Virginia Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy, past president of the Tri City Chapter of the Lupus Foundation and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by a son, David L. Shumate (Kelly), two daughters, Sharla Kirk (David), Cynthia Zornes-Scott (Jimmy), two brothers, Jimmy and Kenneth Farmer, six grandchildren, Kelly and Daniel Shumate, Ashley Little, Jeremy Zornes, Remington and Storm Adams, seven great grandchildren, Haley Andrews, Daniel Shumate, Jr., Mariah Hacker, Montanna and Madison Coward, Conner and Kylie Little, also numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass conducted at 7:00 pm.
