Mary Katherine Berg

Mary Katherine Berg, 80, born in Brooklyn, NY, of Hopewell passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mrs. Berg was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Unertl Stoger and her husband, Melvin J. Berg. Mary was an employee of the Appomattox Regional Library for approximately twenty eight years and continued to volunteer at the library until recently, a member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge, the H2U Club at John Randolph Hospital, the Hopewell Historical Society and Saint James Catholic Church and a great lover of her library and reading. She is survived by her two children, Monica B. Gleason (Kenneth) of Panama City, FL and Martin Berg of Hopewell, VA, two grand-daughters, Kersi and Marisa Gleason of Panama City, FL and special mention to her comforting friend, Emily Noe. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to our local library or reading program.
