Martha Jean Smith

Martha Jean Smith, 70, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday March 11, 2016. She was the daughter of the later Russell Max and Anna Morrison Fogle. Jean loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by four children; Ernest Benny Sargent and wife Mary of Chesterfield, Brenda L. McFarland of Hopewell, Ricky L. Sargent and wife Lisa of Chesterfield, Robert "Bobby" Sargent of Hopewell, grandchildren; Donald, Jeffrey, Courtney, John, and Alex Sargent, great granddaughter; Shania Sargent and a nephew; Dan Elliott. The family will receive friends on Monday March 14, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service 214 N. 6th Ave. Hopewell. Interment will be in Paynes Chapel Church Cemetery at a later Date. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Dalton Clinic at VCU Massey Cancer Center.
