John Wesley Powell

John Wesley Powell, 77, of Hopewell went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents the late Hubert and Rosa Asycue Powell. John is survived by his sons, Wesley Powell and John G. Powell; sister, Elizabeth Greene; brother, Hubert Powell and several extended family members and friends. John worked for and retired from Phillip Morris. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 N 6th Ave In the historic city of Hopewell. His funeral ceremony will be the next day at 12:00 p.m. Final rest will conclude in Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of your choice in honor of John.
