John David Compton

John David Compton, Sr. (Big David, Loverboy, DUCK) 58, peacefully passed away at his home Monday, July 25, 2016. Born on August 13, 1957 in Prince George (Petersburg), VA where he was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Eldon (Ikie) Compton and was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Compton and grandson, Kaleb Hubbard. David is survived by his wife, Cora Compton; children, Christina Francioni (Rodney), John Compton, Jr. (Carolyn), William Compton, Kallie Rafferty (Joe), Billie Jean Compton; step-children, Angel Hubbard, Blake Hubbard, Christy Allen (Adam), Trey Pulver; loving mother, Margaret Hayes; sisters, Anita Compton (Johnny) and Pennie Pulver (Chippy); 18 grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. David was a kind generous man who knew no stranger and was a hard worker. Prior to retirement in 2015, he put in 39 ½ years with Brenco. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory, 214 N. 6th Ave in Hopewell. David's funeral ceremony will be on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Final rest will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
