Hun Che Chan Yam

Hun Che Chan Yam, 86, formerly of Harrisonburg, VA, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Hopewell, VA. Mrs. Yam started Golden China Restaurant with her husband, Lai, in Harrisonburg in June of 1972. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lai Luen Yam, and son, Yee Wai Yam. She is survived by three sons: Yee Wong Yam and wife, Li Qun; Yee Yan Yam and wife, Sau; and Yee Kwan Yam and wife, Jin, and three daughters: Yin Fong Chan and husband, Bing; Yin Fung Lo and husband, Frank; and Amy Yam Curry and husband, Christopher. She is survived by nine grandsons: Sing Jone and wife, Elena, Stanley, Andrew, Sing Howe, Alex, Nathan, Sing De, Chaysen and Cayden; 10 granddaughters: Sau and husband, Carey, Rossana, Sherry, Angela, Cie Nga, Juliana, Katy, Lorinda and husband, Andrew, Morgan and Chloe; and one great-grandson, Brandon. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. Sixth Ave., Hopewell, VA, and where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. In Harrisonburg, the family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Asbury UMC in Slaven Hall.
