Gaylen Sherwood Howell

Gaylen Sherwood Howell Sr., 69, entered eternal peace on Monday, January 14, 2013 at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell. He was born on December 3rd, 1943 in West Virginia, and was married to Della Howell for 49 years. After many years of truck driving he finally settled down and retired in Hopewell VA. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He lived a full life, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and spoiling his grandkids. He was survived by his cherished wife, Della Howell; his loving children, Edward Howell, Albert Howell, Ronda Esque, Gaylen Howell Jr and their partners, Christine Browning, Carlita Howell, Charles Esque Jr, Tina Dillenbeck. His beloved grandchildren; Heather Kather and grandson-in-law Jeffrey Kather, David Cook, Danielle Howell, Crystal Esque, Matthew Esque, Jesse Browning, and Playford Hart. He was proceeded in death by one son, Keith Howell and three brothers, Beryl Howell, Luther Winter, Kenneth Winter, and two sisters, Della Quinn, Ernestine Huff. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 17th, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N 6th Avenue, Hopewell VA 23860, and where funeral services will be held at 7:00pm following the visitation.
