Freeman Lester Tennant

F. Lester Tennant, 90, of Hopewell went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Icie Moore Tennant and his son, Elver Howard Lane Jr. Lester is survived by his loving wife, Agnes Virginia Tennant; his daughter, Jean Emory (Milton); grandchildren, Lauree Emory Lee (Joe), Kelly Emory Tanner, Cody Lee Emory; two great grandchildren, Ryan Drew Bell, Emma Jean Tanner; his sister, Mary Lemley and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lester was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and served 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam. He was a lifetime member of Hopewell Moose Lodge, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 50. He was a loving father and grandfather and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Special thanks to Marion Davis for her dedicated care and to Hopewell Health Care Center for all of the staff's dedication to Mr. Tennant. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Ave in Hopewell City. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Appomattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Emergency Crew.
