Esther D. Henderson

Esther D. Henderson, 87, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday morning May 9, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daw Tate and Ruthie Pierce Henderson, loving husband of 23 years, John E. Harlow, Sr., one daughter, five sisters, and two brothers. Esther was retired from Brown and Williams Tobacco Corp. where she was employed as a machine operator, was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church in Prince George, was an avid gardener and a superb cook. She was truly an expert with Spaghetti and her hamburgers were to die for. These were the favorites of her children and grandchildren, no one could compare. She is survived by her children, John E. Harlow, Jr. and wife Jeri, Robin J. Harlow, Loretta H. Moneymaker and husband Ronald, grandchildren, Katie E. Harlow, John E. Harlow III, Brandon L. Harlow, numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank her friends and caregivers, Angus Hirst, Roxie Mae Richardson and her lifelong friends Betsy Harris and Gracie Wilson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 12, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in the Sycamore United Methodist Church in Prince George Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Sycamore UMC 9710 Old Stage Road Prince George, Va. 23875, in Esthers' memory.
