Elsie Torvund Ahrend

Elsie Torvund Ahrend, 88, of Hopewell, formerly of Spotswood NJ, passed away on Tuesday December 29, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ingvard and Martha Goss Torvund, and her husband; Capt. George F. Ahrend. Elsie was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 13 years where she was a member of the Allen Circle, prior to joining Wesley United Methodist Church she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Spotswood, NJ for 50 years. She loved camping and was a member of the Sundowners Camping Club also in NJ for many years, was a member of the 4 Square Square-dancing Club where she loved to Square Dance , and was also a member of the Red Hat Society and loved getting together with all the other Red Hatters to go out. Elsie loved her family very much and those grandchildren of hers would always put a twinkle in her eyes and a smile on her face. She is survived by her children; Elsie E. Ahrend of Princeton NJ, Ellen E. Santacroce (Michael), George Ahrend (Christina), Greg Ahrend (Debbie), 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM on Friday January 1, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home 214 N 6th Ave. Hopewell, funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Saturday January 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
