Dorothy Hotchkiss Bailey

Dorothy Hotchkiss Bailey, 87, of Hopewell passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mrs. Bailey was retired from the Justice Department where she served as a secretary, a member of First Baptist Church for 62 years, children's Sunday school teacher for 40 years, member of the adult choir and enjoyed volunteering for many community activities. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lewis C. Bailey, two daughters, Gloria Ascoli (Mark) and Janet Craig (Dax), a son Thomas E. Bailey (Caroline), brother, Robert Hotchkiss, six grandchildren, Matthew Ascoli, Amy Vesser, Guillaume and Luc Bailey, Madison and Logan Craig, four great grandchildren, Morgan and Bryson Ascoli, Jack and Jay Vesser, also numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, October 15, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Raymond officiating. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
