Darrell George Allen

Darrell George Allen, 83, of Hopewell passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mr. Allen was a retired pipe fitter with Allied Chemical, a member of the Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church, VFW Post 4500 in West, VA, Hopewell American Legion and VFW, Prince George and Burrowsville Volunteer Fire Department and the Brandon Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife, Velma I. Allen, two sons, Bobby Allen (Donna) and John Carl Allen, a daughter, Mary Kay Schroeter (Mike), sister, Mary Harman, four grandchildren, Herbert M. and Darrellyn C. Schroeter, Jennifer Gravina and Melissa Johnson, two great grandchildren, Lilyanna and Brianna Gravina. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Memorial Funeral Home-Gould Chapel, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beverly Bullock officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church or the Burrowsville Volunteer Fire Department.
