Alice Browder Walker

Alice Browder Walker, 103, formerly of Hopewell, Virginia, died October 29, 2017. Born March 28, 1914, to the late John Thomas and Eva Browder of Petersburg, VA. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Owen S. Walker. A resident of Hopewell for 64 years before she moved to Woodbridge, VA, residing with her daughter and son-in-law. At her death, she was a resident at Burke Health and Rehabilitation Center, Burke, VA. Alice was an 80-year member of First Baptist Church of Hopewell, VA, where she was active in Sunday School, Quilting Club and visiting the shut-ins. She loved gardening, sewing, crafts, aerobics, walking and was an accomplished bowler. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She displayed a strong love of life that electrified others who knew her. Alice's loving kindness captured the hearts of her family and friends. Survivors include her son Nathan O. Walker (Carolyn) of Pocomoke, Maryland and daughter Joyce W. Pawlowski (Andrew) of Woodbridge, Virginia; three grandchildren, Lori W. Roth (Steve), Annandale, VA, Lisa W. Voss (Douglas), Pocomoke, MD, and Rodney E. Burdette (Laura), Carrollton, VA seven great-grandchildren, Anne and Claire Roth, Erik and Adam Voss, and Madison, Mary Caitlyn, and Owen Burdette. She is also survived by one sister Frances B. Treaster of Hopewell, VA. The family will receive friends Thursday November 2, 2017 11:00 AM at 1st Baptist Church in Hopewell, funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Darrell Boggs of 1st Baptist Church officiating, interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park.
